White Lotus is our physical home to practice Jiu Jitsu. In our humble opinion, Jiu Jitsu to us should be practiced playfully, painlessly, and precisely. Most of us are hobbyist with day jobs that don’t need increased risk of injury because of a win every round culture. White Lotus bloomed in Milwaukee Wisconsin for those hobbyist practitioners that love to train, but don’t need to “win” every roll.

We take great lengths to foster community amongst our members. White lotus doubles as a co-working space with wifi and office supplies. We offer a lounge complete with access to Netflix, prime, HBO, etc. Members also enjoy 24/7 access to all the dojo amenities once they have been with us for 1 year. Additionally, we have gatherings to watch fighting/grappling, popular shows, celebrations and game nights. White Lotus is affiliated with the BJJ Globetrotter’s organization with Joshua (head coach) having coached at many camps around the world. We believe in sharing our accumulated knowledge with both our members and traveling friends. Membership is a perfect mix of of all skill levels, age brackets, size, and athleticism. We coach to the individual and their body type. If you are thinking about checking us out, first 2 drop ins are always free. If we have an open mat, all schools and levels are welcome. Our membership model is affordable and pliable offering both full time and auxiliary memberships (auxiliary memberships typically for those that want continuing education but have a home school already). Our Approach

We know that every "body" is different. Our coaches understand the principles so we can teach different methods that may work better for that individual student.

White Lotus is a place of open source learning, very different than traditional hierarchal Jiu Jitsu gyms.. Members learn together and share their knowledge. It is a physically small venue because we want to keep class sizes small. We believe that skill transmission is best done in smaller groups where people are comfortable to speak up, ask questions and contribute.

Meghan Wagner and Joshua Janis have spent most of their lives in Martial arts. Meghan is a brown belt in BJJ and a 3rd degree black belt in Tae kwon Do. Her Masters in Education and career as a teacher and non profit program director have helped build her ability to coach and help the team.

Joshua is a Black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with over 20 years of experience. He has multiple videos on BJJ Fanatics, has coached all over the world with BJJ Globetrotters, and has been coaching since 2012. His career, executive coaching with Janis Consulting, has also helped build him into an excellent communicator of the principles of BJJ.
